Don't Forget About the ACA's Scholarship Program for ARM Professionals

If you are employed at any level by the debt collection industry, or know of any dependent children with parents employed by collection professionals, you should be aware of Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship, a college scholarship fund offered through the association’s International Education Foundation (ACAEF).

I am a member of the ACAEF Board and want to help make sure collection professionals are aware of this wonderful opportunity to fund education. Please help me spread the word.

Three winners of the ACAEF Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship will be selected in 2013 (one first-place recipient will be awarded $3,000; two second-place recipients will be awarded $1,000 each). Applications must be submitted by June 15, 2013 and winners notifed after July 1, 2013.

These scholarships may be used to further their education at post-secondary colleges, universities, community, or technical colleges.  Scholarship recipients are selected by the ACAEF. Not all applicants will receive an award; however, all applicants will be notified regarding the status of their applications. Recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:

• Essay – The essay topic will be financial literacy. You may choose to write either a creative story or a persuasive essay, but the successful applicants will demonstrate the importance of financial literacy in today’s society. Essays may range from 700 – 1,500 words in length.

• Cumulative Grade Point Average (Academic performance of applicant during high school or during college, whichever is most recent). An original grades transcript must accompany your application.
