CompuCredit Corporation (Nasdaq: CCRT) announced today that it has contributed $15 million to benefit 26 organizations through its innovative, shareholder-directed philanthropic effort, the 2006 CompuCredit Corporation Charitable Designation Program.

"So often, shareholders are disconnected from corporate philanthropy efforts. But at CompuCredit, our philanthropic program is central to who we are, and how we view our company," said CompuCredit Chairman and CEO David G. Hanna. "We designed a unique process to foster shareholders’ interest in our philanthropic work and deepen their commitment to our charitable beneficiaries. From all of us here at CompuCredit, thank you to our shareholders for their active participation in this important program."

Under the Charitable Designation Program, CompuCredit shareholders designate up to three pre-selected charitable organizations to receive a prorated share of CompuCredit’s $15 million 2006 year-end charitable contribution, based on shareholders’ holdings of CompuCredit stock.

Shareholders owning more than 10,000 shares may designate up to three 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organizations of their choice (at the rate of one organization per 10,000 shares owned), to receive a prorated share of the company’s $15 million charitable contribution.

This is the third year the company has conducted the Shareholder Designation Program, and it has contributed $36 million under the program over these past three years.

The recipients of this year’s program include: American Cancer Society; American National Red Cross; The Arthritis Foundation; Association for the Help of Retarded Children, Suffolk Chapter; Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta; East Harlem Tutorial Program; the Salvation Army; the Hispanic Council for Reform and Educational Options (CREO); Komen Foundation; and Melanoma Research Foundation.

Additional beneficiaries of the company’s 2006 philanthropic efforts outside of the Shareholder Designation Program include: the Jackson Foundation; Jumpstart; and the Trumpet Awards Foundation, among others.
