The California Association of Collectors (CAC) held their 94th Annual Conference & Expo October 3-5, in Sparks, Nevada, at the John Ascuaga’s Nugget Hotel and Casino.

During the Board of Governors meeting on Tuesday, October 4, several important decisions were made. One such decision was to amend CAC’s Bylaws to be in compliance with ACA’s requirement that dues be billed on a calendar year. Currently CAC members are paid through May of 2012. In January, CAC will mail dues renewals for the seven remaining months of 2012, giving members until May 31 to submit payment. Additionally, due to a necessary dues increase, CAC will subsidize 50 percent of the difference in dues rates for members for the first year from its reserves. This will be reflected on member renewal statements.

The Board adopted a Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) creating an Elected Officer Candidate Screening process for financial and criminal background screening.

CAC installed its 2011-2012 Executive Committee. Richard Hoffman of Los Angeles Collection Service, Inc. was installed as President, Karl Hillard of Healthcare Revenue Recovery Group, LLC as President Elect/CFO, Matt Logan from Collection Consultants Associates as Vice President/Secretary, Brian Davis from Coast Professional, Inc. as Past President and Greg Dalton from Absolute Resolutions Corp. as Member-at-Large.

CAC is a non-profit association that represents over 250 third-party collection agencies throughout the state. CAC’s mission is to promote, stimulate, increase and improve the educational, social, economic and ethical welfare of the California collection industry and the public it serves.
