Donated money, food and clothing helped make 2010 brighter for people in need around the world, thanks to ACA International staff fundraising efforts. Last year, ACA International employees raised more than $4,500 for local and national charities through a variety of fundraisers.
The money—plus 80 lbs. of nonperishable food items and two bags of children’s outerwear—was donated to several organizations: the American Red Cross, the ACA International Education Foundation, the Twins Community Fund and Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People.
The fundraisers were executed by ACA International’s United We Stand Committee, the planning group for ACA staff events and fundraisers. Staff participated in raffles, paid casual days, special lunches and more to raise money for the various charities.
Sarah McGlynn, United We Stand Committee chair, was thrilled with the response from ACA staff. “The committee was very pleased with the staff participation in last year’s events,” she said. “Not only did we raise more than $4,500 between the fundraisers, but the items we collected from local businesses for the raffles topped $2,000 in value. It’s warming to know that people care so much and are willing to give even when times are tough.”
The United We Stand Committee hosts several fundraising events each year. In 2009, the committee held events that raised two carloads of canned food for a local food shelf, $300 in school supplies for area elementary schools, more than $800 for two local families through the Adopt-A-Family program and more than $1,000 for the ACA International Education Foundation.
