Annette Waggoner, Executive Director of the Commercial Collection Agency Association of the Commercial Law League of America, reports that in the second quarter 2013, the number of commercial (B2B) accounts placed with CCAA members declined by 8.29% when compared to the first quarter 2013. The dollars placed for collection slightly increased by approximately 3% for the same periods compared. Members reported that their average sized account rose significantly by approximately 27%.

For the twelve month period ending June 2013, when compared to the twelve month period ending June 2012, account placements were down 9.54%, and dollars placed for collection declined approximately 7.44%.  The average sized account slightly rose in the twelve month period ending 2013 versus the same time period in 2012–the increase was 1.73%.

Waggoner stated, “The CCAA is now tracking and reporting placements using a multi-year span, which will allow the Association to offer expanded reports and analyses, by quarter.”  The comprehensive reports can be requested by contacting the Commercial Collection Agency Association.

“The volatile economic situation of the past years has been borne out by the numbers of accounts and dollars placed for collection with members, said Waggoner.  “It will be both significant and interesting to see what the next quarters bring.”
