A California company owes more than 350 Kansas residents over $380,000 due to a fraudulent and misleading ?instant cash back offer? from Yellow Pages Inc., according to a story in the Wichita Business Journal.

Yellow Pages Inc. sent out thousands of what appeared to be rebate checks to Kansas residents ? but in actuality, they were sneaky schemes to commit unwitting cashers to a contractual agreement. In effect, those Kansas residents who cashed the check were in reality agreeing to a subscription to Yellow Pages Inc.?s online service directory and a $49.95 a month recurring charge.
