Bill Collectors Double Down for Bronze Star Navy Vet

Vietnam Veteran Kenon Jenkins served in the U.S. Navy in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.  He saw action aboard the USS Douglas H. Fox destroyer and received a National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Star.  Both in military and civilian life, Kenon worked in close proximity to machinery that, over time, led to significant loss of hearing.

Back in 2011, through the generosity of donors primarily made up of collection agencies, he received a grant from ARMing Heroes that partially paid for a type of hearing aid that the U.S. Veterans Administration would not cover.  This grant resulted in a new life for Kenon, which he talked about in articles published in 2012.

As happy as he was to hear again, the grant still left him with a loan to pay off the remaining cost of the hearing aid.  So, when Mr. Jenkins applied for a grant in late 2012 to help pay off the loan, ARMing Heroes stepped in and “doubled down” for Kenon, due to his service to his country, and paid off the remainder of the loan for the hearing aid.

After the bill was paid off, Kenon wrote to ARMing Heroes, saying:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank ARMing Heroes for the grant money that paid off my account, which was the balance for my hearing aid bill. I am wearing my hearing aids everyday.  I can hear my family talking, my TV, fire alarms, my church sermons and my car radio without turning the music up loud. That was the best gift to my family and friends. THANK YOU, THANK YOU AND MORE THANKS.
